I have enclosed images of the final construction, after all was decided the final construction is very fast. At the end I could make a daughter board in 3 minutes !

I tried to take some decent photos but unfortanly you cannot capture the lights running, they are very bright indeed. The next step is to mount them on a single picece of alloy and install a fan to cool the whole thing, I hope to do this tommrow and get some pics of the lights in the box.

The latest grow has taken second place top the light project, I am gowing LR2 and Lowlife AK47 x LR2, I will update you all shortly following light installation.

Some people have mentioned the use of commercial LED lights, these are OK but the LEDS I am using here are VERY bright, more so than the ready made or kit lights I have seen available. If you don't fancy making your own then the commercial ones are OK, but expensive, and as they start using the better LEDS then things can only improve.

Anyway I am happy now, I have a construction method that is fast and scaleable, I hope to finish the install in the next few days, I will also post techinal specs on the finished lights. I then intend to add 4 side lights to the box and update the CFs and then onto the smell....

Other Crops

Hi AdultSwim

I have grown Skunk, Shiva Shanti, LR, LR2 and now LowLife seeds, all under my standard box lighting. The main issue I have is with plant height, as I have lmited room the Shivas were bent double in the end.

For my set up nothing suits me more than LR2 at the moment, I had high hopes for LowLife seeds but at the moment they are a bit of a dissapointment.

Once I have the lights in place and the box lighting is finished I will post more images.

How stupid is that-growing 200 plants and bypassing the electric meter! That dumbass would probably still be happily growing their plants if it weren't for the bypass of the electric meter.

Where do you get your parts from? I can't seem to find a good parts place online-there are plenty of parts places, but I can't find one with reasonable prices.

What do you mean when you say the led's you use are brighter than commercial?

Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded. - Abraham Lincoln, Dec 18, 1840.

Hello again

There are all sorts of LED available with different power outputs, the ones I am using are very high output, more so than the commercially produced growlights.

Light Specifications

Total LEDs = 192 (64 Blue - 128 Red)
Total real power of light 20 Watts
Total equivilent HID wattage at relevent frequencies who knows (see earlier graphs).
Operates from 12volts DC Bench mounted current regulated power supply, which has all the clever elecronics to prevent it drawing too much current.

Light Costs

LED costs = £ 38.40
Other components = £ 8.42

Total cost £ 46.82

Supplier used http://www.rapidonline.com

I have now mounted the 2 light modules onto the old board, with an air gap for cooling, pictures will follow shortly.

OK Heres the light on test in the lounge

It seems great, does not get too hot (phew), and its really bright, stand 4 foot in front of it and screw up your eyes tight shut, AND ITS STILL BLOOD RED.

I will give it another hour or so on test then its in the box... and onto the side lights. As I see it thats another 36 daughter boards so I better get cracking. Ive got time for 1 more grow before the kids get back, so I will start tommrow with 20 LR2s, and after the side ights I will have to look at odour control.

The current gow is still a bit of a dissapointment, I have neglected them for this project, but now I can get back to them.

The next images will be form the grow box !!

You've got a brilliant mind B0fin, glad you're putting it to good use. :)

Very nice lighting fixture it turned out to be, I'm going to have to talk to an electrician friend of mine to help me put one of those together. Fantastic.

Keep it up brother. :)

OK The top lights are done

The new construction method is great and the new light is in position. The image below shows the canopy lighting which is the 2 LED spots, the main LED light, and 8 CFs some 65 watt and the others 20 watt. The next step is the side lights, these will be strips weith the same daughter boards, a total of 6 - 4 red and 2 blue, making an additional 144 LEDs of side lighting.

I have enough bits to make 3 strips this weekend, I will post an image of the install soon.
