 Re: foler spray question?
Very Good question. I have mix emotions about foliar feeding, both good and bad. I'm also questioning the info I'm about to give ya, but it the first that actually gave a ph, which I'm not to sure of.
How to Foliar Feed
How quickly your plant is able to absorb the nutrients through their leaves will depend upon a number of factors. Like with the nutrient solution you use on your roots, the one you will apply to your leaves should have a pH of 5.6 and should not be too cold or too hot.
The nutrient solution should be applied using a finely atomized drifting mist. This can be accomplished by using something as small as a hand pump sprayer, or something as large as a backpack leaf blower with a liquid attachment, depending upon the size of your operation. The fine mist should be thoroughly applied until it begins to “run off” of the leaves. Make certain that it applied to both sides of each leaf. To get the nutrients to stick to the leaves, and thus increase uptake, you should include a non-ionic wetting or sticking agent.
Your plant’s leaves will receive the nutrient solution through “stomata,” or pores mostly used for gas exchange. For this reason, you should only foliar feed in slightly cooler conditions. If the environment is too hot the stomata will be closed, and your plants will receive very little of the solution, or perhaps none at all.
Even if your plants appear to be receiving adequate nutrients, it is still possible your plants can benefit form foliar feeding. As always, experiment with one plant and collect as much hydroponic information as possible on foliar feeding before you try it on your entire crop. It is entirely possible to give a plant too many nutrients, and it may then suffer some of the ailments that a under fertilized plant can experience.
Peace

 Re: foler spray question?
good question and good answer
I like to foliar feed,(outdoor) when i notice deficiency in the plant, I believe the plant absorbs it quicker than feeding to roots. jmo

 Re: foler spray question?
We "Foliar feed" but not with nutes--- there are many products that can be used in the soil/rez or as a spray-- and I prefer (for some) to be applied as a foliar spray so I do not have too many things mixed in my rez... an example of these things are Bushmaster, Nitrozyme, Greenfuse, Dark Energy.... They are additives, vitamins, amino's etc.. with very little or no N-P-K.
We HAVE foliar fed Nutes to "sick" plants that had root issues and IMO saved them that way... but again--JMO
I look at it this way-- they do not get the rain they would outside to "wash" them off occasionally-- so the foliars not only let them uptake some of the "goodies" but also wash off dust and such...
It's what we do-- but is JMO-

 Re: foler spray question?
Foliar feed reacts different on outdoor and indoor plants. The leaves in the out doors are usually thicker and a bit stronger (just because of the elements). Here's another PH for Foliar feeding. one say 5.8 this one says 6.2-7.0 Me I'm thinking it should be more towards natural rain and as The Lady said micro nutrients.
pH Where possible, the pH of a foliar spray should be between 6.2 to 7.0. To promote young plant growth a sweeter (alkaline) solution (pH 7.0) is recommended. For established growth, a more sour (acid) solution (pH 6.2) is recommended
