without useing a cage.

sorry weed dont know the answer to that.Maybe ring up the r.s.p.c.a and ask them if they know how to stop possums coming into your yard maybe there is some sort of spray i really dont know.
@herb i dont know if a cat would work,at my brothers place he has had a family of possums living in there back tree for years now and he has 3 cats all are scared shitless of the possums. i reckon if they had a fight the possum would rip the cat in half lol (evil thoughts )

we had a cat that killed a possum and draged it into the house. Might of been a baby possum come to think of it.
How about a dog?

ever heard of a shotgun?   ...but realistically, unless you live in a rural area, the easiest way'd be to poison em!! set up a bait station and mix up some oats and jam....feed that to em for a few nights until they're used to taking it, then mix in some rat poison or plaster of paris or ground glass or..... hehehehe the list goes on. just don't use a poison with a strong smell! good luck
P.S. crossbows are probably legal where you live

Yeah I take me dogs in now an again,They like a bit of possum.
The .22 gets a few as well.I can get some cyanide paste from a bro but the stuff scares the hell out of me.I guess I'll just keep shooting the little shits for now.

Im suddenly fealing bad for the possum cant you catch them in a cage and release them elsewhere lol.
Im sure there are rat traps now that just catch them and not kill them cant you attract the possum to a cage with some fruit or something and the door shuts behind it and you take it a few km away.

my wife reckons cats hate the smell of lemon jucie, maybe possums do too.
Maybe do a google search for possum repelants. You may find something

Sorry mate, I live in NZ and possums are just a pain in the ass and there are thousands of the buggers.They were imported from OZ about a hundred years ago for the fur trade.You know, one of those bright Gov't ideas like putting wild cats in the bush to keep down rabbits,and releaseing cane toads to eat cane beattles.
Fucking Gov'ts huh.
